Event Details

Walk 60 miles in April is a virtual walking challenge for anybody who wants to take steps towards beating osteoporosis. Challenge yourself to walk 60 miles – or however many miles you can do -  this April. It’s the taking part that matters!

You’ll be walking because a bone breaks every minute in the UK because of osteoporosis. That’s a bone every 60 seconds. We want to be there for everybody affected with osteoporosis, and we need your help to do that.

Sign up today - push yourself to stay active, raise vital funds, and help us take steps towards a future where we beat osteoporosis.

I have osteoporosis. Can I take part?

Being physically active helps to keep bones strong and healthy. Exercising as you get older is important – not only to keep your balance and muscle tone good to stop you falling over but also because bones stay strong if you give them work to do. Walking is a lower impact exercise, so this challenge is a great way to start if you have osteoporosis.

You can find out about building up to moderate impact exercise which is the best for bones and an excellent target if you are well and fit enough.  See our new exercise films for more about this and the best types of exercise for bones.

Being physically active helps you in so many ways, and is very unlikely to cause a broken bone.

Find out more about exercise and physical activity for osteoporosis.

This is your challenge, though,– which means you can take on more or fewer than 60 miles to suit you.

If you’re a wheelchair user, you can cover your 60 miles in your wheelchair.
